Loud and proud are the two ideas that come to mind when meeting Bagheera. She’s been sort of put down her whole life for being female and she resents the stereotypes of weakness and inability in females of her day. So she counters it by barreling head first into everything she does. She doesn’t fear much and what she does fear she won’t usually admit, too strong to be weak, too proud and too stubborn. It’s difficult to get her to do anything you want her to do, even alphas have trouble pushing her around, she is relentless and unyielding in her beliefs and attitude, making her a terrible follower and a pain in the ass for anyone who dares to try to take authority from her. She’s not a great leader or anything, she just has serious problems with authority, especially males.
Though arrogant with a chip on her shoulder and a lot to prove in her young age, Bagheera is actually surprising laid back. She kind of does her own thing, aloof and solitary most of the time, but she will engage in conversation if her opponent is amiable enough to listen to her boast and watching her inflate her massive ego. She likes to be preened and praised, a true queen in her mannerisms moreso than in action. She’s a little too self-absorbed to run a pack, though she’d like to start her own after losing hers when the dome came down. She tries to be cool and collected, like the loss of her family doesn’t bother her, but she is just a dog underneath all of that self-import and she has been known to show rare bits of compassion for others if they have something she wants or she just jives with them pretty well. Though standoffish and distant from the group, she is social and likes to partake in games and things with others, sometimes against their will. She’s still young, still has the puppy age mischievousness in her so she loves to joke around and wrassle with her packmates. Tug of war is a favorite pastime for her because she always wins. She is a strong and powerful dog with a huge head and a massive jaw. If she bites down on something it’s hard to get her to let go so picking a fight with her is not the best idea. She is ruthless in her pursuits, a sore loser who tends to hold grudges. But rarely does she get close enough to someone for that side of her to show. Usually she’s pretty laid-back about everything, except when she’s being judged on her gender. She believes females can do everything males can, some things even better, and she will go to the ends of the earth to fight for what she believes in, so it’s important to tread lightly with her.
History
Bagheera was born on the streets of this very same small town that she now continues to live in. In her short life she has never been outside the dome and she wonders, now that she’s older, what’s really outside of this place. But she was born long before the dome came down and occasionally she’d sneak out past the city limits, into the trees and down the river, wondering just what was out there, what adventures she could find. She had minimal contact with humans. When the dome came down she was separated from her family, her mother and two brothers locked outside while she was locked within. Though she tried for some time to dig under the dome and get to them, she gave up on that pretty quickly. She noticed the dome had some interesting effects on the dogs and people who actually touched the thing, so after her family stopped waiting for her and she gave up trying to reach them, she left it alone, sometimes perching herself upon a rock and watching it to see if a door would open up somewhere or there was some way for her to get out. That’s her main goal now is to find a way to be reunited with her family and her birth pack. She didn’t get along with her brothers too well, even though she was older and bigger than them they always ganged up on her for being a girl and shunned her harshly for her gender. Fortunately, he mother was calm, sweet and compassionate. She always knew how to comfort her daughter.
But now that are separated and Bagheera longs to get back to them. Humans were less than helpful. When she was a pup they used to feed her, tear pieces off of their sandwiches or put a bowl of kibble outside for whatever stray would come along and take it. But once the dome fell, the humans became distracted and stopped filling the bowls. Instead they hoarded their food, chasing the black pitbull away every time she attempted to get some snacks. A particularly cruel set of humans came upon her one day and using nothing but a pair of scissors they cut her ears off, leaving just bloody nubs in their wake. They did other things, things that Bagheera has no interest in ever disclosing to anyone. But she did eventually manage to get away from the delinquents for a while. When they found her the second time, she was ready for them. Smart and tactical, she set up a trap, an ambush down an alleyway where there was only one way in and one way out.
She likes to boast that she is the only dog out here strong enough to kill a human but she has never actually described what went down in that alleyway. There were three kids involved at least and surely one dog could not best that many people in one go. But she claims to have, can pull up gorey details if she needs to convince someone. But some think it’s just another of her prideful boasts, made up to make herself seem cooler than she was. Who knows. All that matters to her now is getting outside that dome, away from the humans that are now actively seeking her for the deaths she caused. She’d been to a shelter once when she was young and still small enough to squeeze through the bars of her cage and escape. But she knew what happened in that place, the place where dogs go in and never get out and he desire to avoid that fate keeps her from outright attacking any human she sees but she will probably never trust mankind again. They lowered the dome, they were the ones now starving her, they took her ears, her happiness and she is bitter and determined about making them pay for every single one of those things.
